Advanced Art - Forced Product
Formed in Tampere, Finland in 1985, Advanced Art became one of the defining forces in the country’s early electronic underground. Over the next decade, the band helped shape a new scene—organizing events, playing some of Finland’s first warehouse parties, and building an international cult following. While the lineup shifted, the creative heart remained the partnership between Jana (vocals, lyrics) and Vince (music, production), whose blend of sharp electronics and strong lyrical vision gave the group its distinctive identity.
After early cassette releases and two 7-inch singles, Advanced Art signed to Poko Rekords in 1991. The EPs "Scar" and "Time" brought wider attention, boosted by airplay on MTV Europe’s 120 Minutes. Their debut album "Product" followed in 1993, uniting elements of synth pop, EBM, and industrial into a focused, cohesive sound. In 1994, the concept-driven follow-up "Force" expanded that vision with live percussion and a sharper sense of direction. The band closed its chapter in 1995—exactly ten years after forming—leaving behind a foundational legacy for Finnish electronic music.
Now, marking the band’s 40th anniversary, "Forced Product" presents the definitive overview of that legacy. This fully remastered double LP includes "Product" in full, the Update and Retro sections of "Force", plus key EP tracks and remixes recorded between 1991 and 1994 at the conceptual “Audible Art” studio space. Limited to 450 copies and housed in a gatefold sleeve with poster and sticker, "Forced Product" stands as a concise yet complete document of Finland’s pioneering electronic cult heroes.
